“Ammerbach” – An Organ Tablature Font Based on Historical Type
Building on the success of Möller, this post presents Ammerbach, a new font inspired by Elias Nikolaus Ammerbach’s 1571 Tabulaturbuch—notably, the very copy once owned by J.S. Bach. Designed to reflect the modular clarity of early printed tablature, Ammerbach offers a historically grounded tool for digitally re-creating the look and logic of 16th-century German organ notation.

Introducing “Möller” – A Music Font for German Organ Tablature
In this post, I unveil Möller, a custom-designed font for German organ tablature. Combining historical authenticity with modern usability, Möller faithfully reproduces the unique symbols and layout of 17th-century organ notation—making it both a visually pleasing and scholarly useful tool. Now available for free, it’s ideal for musicologists, performers, and editors working with early keyboard sources.
